About Our Forest of Family Trees

This site has a database of thousands of 1700-1900 ancestors in trees complete with source citations, collected by Bruce Beacher Ph.d., his nephew Jonathan Beacher, and the many genealogists who have contributed info since we published Bruce's research on the Internet.

3 ways to search our family trees, each has advantages...

Surname List Browse names, dates, places
Google Our Trees Search combinations of name, date, place, spouse, father etc.
Rootsweb Use Rootsweb Advanced Search to find a Henry born in 1755; in a particular place; with a particular spouse. Anything found in Rootsweb Database Beacher is ours. Download a GED file.

Think of our data like a giant library of facts, often connected into family trees but sometimes unconnected when we lack evidence. Therefore, you can find the same person listed more than once: perhaps first as father baptizing a son, second for his cemetery listing, etc. If you find two pieces of evidence you know belong to one person, or find a father and son who should be joined, email to the address on the tree page We welcome all additions and corrections.

Locations for birth, death, cemeteries & churches are where they are today; we've found it's less confusing for web visitors unfamiliar with areas changing over time. However, some locations like census places must always appear as they were that year.

 Bruce Franklin Beacher Ph.d

This website is dedicated to Uncle Bruce Beacher (right) who passed away January 24, 2004 in Biglerville, Adams Co., PA. Born in Shenandoah in 1919, he earned four degrees from Penn State, Colorado State, Ohio State and Maryland as an agricultural scientist, but his passion was the science of genealogy.

For much of his life, Bruce researched our Beacher/Bucher family history, doing a magnificent job considering he started without personal computers and Internet resources to make his job easy. Bruce traveled to libraries, historical societies, churches, cemeteries and courthouses to assemble his facts. During the 1970's and 80's Bruce published a genealogy newsletter sent to many PA Bucher, Beecher, Bicher, etc. descendents. Without his efforts, we'd be lost!

View Bruce in our tree, including his obituary published 28 Jan 2004 in The Gettysburg Times . Bruce is descended from Johan Engel Bücher who died in 1778 in Cocalico Township, Lancaster County, PA.
