What We Include
The SiteServers Tourism Attraction & Activities Map Data includes all things that tourists do and see while visiting an area, including recreation, sports, history, arts and culture, entertainment, and attractions. Our goal is to include all points of interest that are promoted by local, regional, and state tourism and government organizations.
We work hard to include important locations missing in many online directories, such as natural wonders, historic sites, beaches, government and university points of interest, rural locations, etc. Since they aren't profit-making businesses that advertise in yellow pages or report to firms like Dun & Bradstreet, these locations are not found in typical business directories.
We do eliminate some points as follows...
- We do not include hotels and motels, restaurants and some retailers, unless they offer tourism activities (such as a ski resort, golf resort or a guest ranch offering horseback riding) or because they are located in an historic structure or unique area such as a national park, or are in themselves a "destination" to which tourists travel, like a district of antique or art galleries. For example, a resort hotel within the Disney World complex is in itself a destination, whereas the many ordinary hotels and motels nearby are not.
Presently, commercial campground/RV parks are usually not included unless they offer attractions or recreation activities to the public. Government campgrounds within parks or recreation areas usually are included.
For golf courses, we provide keywords to help users identify them: public, semi-private, private, resort, and military.
Inclusion in our database is subject to review by our staff. We allow points of interest to submit a request to be included, and soon will allow them to update and improve their listings online, but our staff reviews every location before our data is published.
